Delicate Silhouettes!

Happy Friday! Life has been taking over my crafting time...I squeezed in this card with the Penny Black set, delicate silhouettes.
I started out with a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock, 3 Tim Holtz oxide inks (peeled paint, faded jeans and cracked pistacho) and the mini stencils from Tim Holtz. They are the perfect size for your card  panels. Put the ink on through the stencils with foam blenders, and spritz lightly with water, dab off excess water with a paper towel. Then I cut up the background in 4 pieces, just random, and stamped the images from the Penny Black set on it, sentiment is also from the same set,
Matted it with a off white panel on a blue card base. As a final touch I added some Neptune Nuvo drops. Images are stamped with Versafine black. Hope you like it!
                                      Till next time, Anja

"Happy Birthday, Canada" Kit

Good morning, everyone! Sometimes in scrapbooking, you may find that you just don't have the paper that you need to complete a layout. Perhaps the theme of your photos is such that it makes paper-shopping difficult to find something to match.

I have found that you can create your own paper in different ways by using stamps, dies, etc. But my favourite way to solve this problem is to use MS Word. For the paper that you will see below, I adjusted the margins to give me a larger space to work with and then selected the Full Justify icon. Next, I went to Design and then Paragraph Spacing. Here I selected No Paragraph Space. I typed the words for "Oh Canada" in the smallest font size possible and then just copied and pasted the words until the page was filled. I have a 12 x 12 Printer but you could do the same thing on a smaller printer. Once I had the page printed out, I used my Silhouette to cut out the shape of the Maple Leaf.

You could use this technique with the words from your Wedding Vows, the words from a favourite Poem or a Children's Rhyme, etc.

Here is the kit. Hope you like it!

The black and white paper was from a MFT 6 x 6 pad called Black and White. The stars are from Bella Blvd. and then I just added some gems and a Journal Card decorated with some ribbon. The "Happy Birthday" stamp is from my favourite set of stamps called "Messages with Flourish" by Hero Arts. I love the versatility of this set and the beautiful font.

Have a great week!

Fairy Tales

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my other card for this up coming Pop Up Shop.  I am using Stephanie Barnard's Gift Fold It die. I really love this die. I had so much fun making cards with this die. My next project with this die is going to be a scrap booking page. I used the designer paper from Doodle Bug called Fairy Tales. If you sign up for the class you will be able to choose if you would like to do a card for a girl or a boy.

Hope you join me this Friday. You can register for the class here.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Hugs!

Happy Friday! Today my card is simple and very easy to do. When I saw this set from Altenew, I had to have it....by all means, I am Dutch after all, lol.
I messed up on the stamping of the leaves a little bit so I added some colour with markers and cut out the tulips. Sentiment comes with the set. Hope you like it!

New Kit "You did it!"

Good morning, everyone! I hope you are keeping cool. It has been a hot weekend here in SW Ontario and promises to continue this way for the next few days.

Today, I wanted to show you the latest kit that I created using the 6 x 6 Paper Pad "Black and White" from MFT. This is the month for Graduations so I thought that this was a timely kit to create. I love trying to figure out how I can use 6 x 6 Paper pads in a scrapbook layout and of course, I love working with black and white. The stamp is from Impression Obsessions called "The Journey". I thought it was so appropriate for a new graduate. The Washi Tape is from Vicki Boutin's Mixed Media Metallic Washi Tape Collection.

Here is the kit:

I also added some sequins and some black and white flowers from my own stash. The Puffy Stars are from Bella Blvd.

Have a great week.

White on white card

Happy Friday! Yesterday I had to pleasure to teach an Altenew card class, 4 cards all with this same set of flowers. it is called Adore You
We used different techniques and colour mediums but we started with this all white card with a touch of silver.
White on white cards always turn out elegant and classy, I think, lol
We punched out some vellum leaves and used the fine dots embossing folder on the bottom. Flowers were heat embossed in silver and have some wink of Stella on them. Although this class is over, I wanted to show you this card.
Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja

Timeless Memories

Happy Monday! Have you seen this new line called "Chesterville" by Blue Fern Studios? I love the vintage feel of the papers and in this layout, I used the papers called "Chester" and "Barton". I did some stamping using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide "Vintage Photo" and this stamp from Kaisercraft called "Gritty".

I also used a stencil by Tim Holtz for the clocks, as well as some flowers from Prima. I hope to teach the class on June 24th where we will be doing lots of edge distressing and stamping. Watch the blog for the time.

Kits will be available, as well.

Have a great week!

First Blooms

Good  Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you a card I made using Penny Black's First Blooms die. I got my inspiration here.  I cut the die with three different colours. Then I used my flower shaping tool to shape just the petals of the tulips. I then used the Glitter Kiss to add some glitter to the petals and butterfly. The little butterfly comes from the Flights of Fancy die set from Penny Black. The background was embossed with one of my all time favourite embossing folder, dots.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Embossing Folders & Scrapbooking

Embossing Folders are primarily a card makers tool but I like using them on my scrapbook layouts as well.  They add an extra bit of texture, an additional layer - it's all about layers of interest!  We have a new Embossing Folder by Tim Holtz called "Ringer" that I used on one of the layouts I created at the retreat last weekend. I love the distressed rings!

Here is the layout, titled "Be Strong".  I used the BoBunny Collection "Life in Colour".  Keep an eye on the website, this layout will be soon be available to purchase as a kit!

June Calendar Class

Good morning, everyone! Today, I wanted to show you the June Calendar layout that we will be doing at the Komoka Community Center on Saturday, June 24th. Watch the blog for the time.

I used these Brown Oxide inks from Tim Holtz to create a pattern and then cut out a
the tree trunk die from this new set of Sizzix Thinlits by Tim. Then I created another pattern using the soft colours shown here and cut out the small flowers. The other flowers are by Prima. I love these new Thinlits "Small Tattered Florals" and can see myself using them again and again. To shape the flowers, I used the Heartfelt Flower Creation Kit. I think you will love these Oxide Inks. They blend so smoothly and have a nice soft chalky look.

The colours of the flowers on the layout are quite muted but I thought they fit in well with the colours of the Maggie Holmes papers pictured here. The stamp "This is the best" is a Teresa Collins stamp. I also added a wooden heart and a large button from my stash. For the center of the flower, I used the Wendy Vecchi "Forget Me Not" Enamel Accents. I cut the title "hello summer" on my Silhouette. I also added a Ice Cream Accent from Doodlebug (hard to see in the photo) "Fairy Tales" Collection.

Hope that you can join me on the 24th.

Glitter Kiss and Guilding Polish

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my latest card using Glitter Kiss and Guilding Polish. This is my favourite  products right now. I Love how easy they are to use.
I used Heather Metallic Guilding Polish with a Tim Holtz Stencil. I let this dry ( only takes a few minutes ), I then took an Acrylic paint from Prima called sparks and brushed over the whole card. Once that was dry I took the Silver Chrome Kiss and lightly rubbed over the top of the card. You don't need to rub very hard, just kiss the top of where you have used the stencil.  I adhere this piece to the  black card stock. I then stamped the "Happy Birthday" using the Heather Metallic Guilding Polish.
To cut out my flower I made my own designer paper by rubbing the Heather Metallic Guilding Polish all over a piece of neenah paper. Once the flower was cut out I lightly tapped the Silver Chrome Kiss over my flower and adhere to the front of the card.
I cut out the butterfly with the Penny Black die called "Graceful Wings".  I glued this down in the centre of my flower. Added some bling.

Hope you will gives these products a try.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Kim

Soft thinking of you!

Happy Friday! I had some down time in my craft room and played with the Fragrant flowers from Penny Black. The flower is heat embossed with silver embossing powder and I coloured it with diluted distress inks, peacock feathers and shabby shutters. When it was dry, I brushed on some ice blue metallic gliding polish, love this new prodcut. As I final touch, I put some silver Nuvo drops in the center of the flowers and on the card. Matted it on a piece of teal cardstock, added the sentiment in Memento teal zeal, scored some lines and finished the card.
Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja
