Want to share with you my card for our next Wonderful Wednesday. This will start up again on Jan 7 at 1:00 pm.
I am using paper from Kaisercraft called Blue Bay. The die is from Creative Expressions, this one is called the Trailing Ivy. I used plain green card stock to cut the ivy out but you could use white card stock and colour with you your copic markers.

Thanks for looking and have a great day. See you on Jan 7 2015. Happy New Year!

Clean and simple

Happy Boxing Day! Hope you are all having a great time celebrating Christmas with family and loved ones.
I had some time to play and I took out my Memory Box dies....I cut out the branch a couple of times and molded them on the flower tool mat, put some glue on the bottom and put them on the card, there are some simple, scored lines around the white piece of cardstock, so easy to do with your scorpal.
The butterfly is also a Memory Box die, sentiment from Just Rite.
Hope you like it, till next time, Anja

February Calendar Class/Kit

Good morning, everyone! I hope you are all ready for the big day! Today, I am showing you the layout that I have prepared for the February Calendar Class. I decided to change up the traditional colour scheme for a Valentine's Day layout and used these papers from Bo Bunny "Candy Cane Lane" and "Tutu Double Dot" and from Jillibean "Heart Healthy Red Bean Soup". I have used some twine, ribbon, Crystal Lacquer, and Wink of Stella pens. Kits are available for this layout.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday!

Happy Saturday with Fiskars Premium Surecut

Today I wanted to share my favourite trimmer- the Fiskars Premium Surecut Deluxe Crafter's Trimmer. I love how this tool has a thin metal wire to show you exactly where your cut will land. Excellent for when you need a precision trim or to cut a pattern from a patterned paper. I can cut paper as thin as a strand of hair. One of the other things I LOVE is that the lengths I need for my card patterns is right on the face of the trimmer. It has a full 6 inch face! The arm goes in and out easily and tucks nicely underneath when not needed.

Lightweight, durable and exact- it is a great trimmer for anyone in the market for one!

Check it out!

Happy Crafting!

Simple birthday card!

Happy Friday! While I was thinking about what to show you today.....I came up with this card.
Not sure, if it's even a technique, lol. I started with a piece of Bristol smooth paper (31/2 x 43/4)
and swiped my Tim Holtz stormy sky inkpad sideways on it, then I dropped some waterdrop randomnly and let it dry.......I matted it with black and the card base is kraft. The little wooden stars are from Studio Calio, all different sizes in one box! Sentiment is from Taylored expressions, shade of tree sentiments.
So there you have it, with not a lot of craft time in this busy time of the year, you can still make a card in no time! Happy Crafting, Anja

Mason Jar Snow Globes

Good morning everyone!!  I wanted to share a craft my boys and I made last weekend.  Mason Jar Snow Globes!  They are gifts for their teachers and one for each of them to keep. (I may have made one for me too!)  The snow man are white pom poms glued together with red ribbon scarves, black pearl buttons, clear rhinestones coloured black for the eyes and orange for the "carrot" nose.  We used Tim Holtz's trees and sprayed them green with my Dylusion sprays (Pesto and Martini).  The little wooden shapes, snow flakes and candy canes I had in my stash, and we just used a mix of dry glitter for the snow. (Some of the glitter clings to the glass making it look a little like a snow storm!) We painted the lids red and added some little lights.  It was a very fun project!

Christmas Tags

Good morning, everyone! This year, I have been changing out my Christmas décor to be a bit more rustic. When I saw the line of Christmas papers from My Mind's Eye, I knew that I could use these papers to make some Christmas Tags. I first started making text boxes in Word and drew the text boxes to measure 4 x 2 inches. I then used Right Justify and typed the names of each of my family members (I was being lazy!). I printed several sheets of these using a beige cardstock. Next, I cut some green/red cardstock at 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches to act as a background on each tag. Then, using the various papers from MME "Sleigh Bells Ring", I cut out squares measuring 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches. Finally, I cut out various small die cuts using my dies from both Memory Box and Impression Obsession. I also outlined many of the squares using a Tim Holtz Walnut Stain marker. I hope you like them.

Now all I have to do is get wrapping!!!

Colorful Brush Strokes JustRite

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card for this up coming Donate to Create. This will be the last one for this year. Where has the time gone? Anyway, thought we would make a non Christmas Card. I picked colours that would  bring us a little sunshine. I used the Colorful Brush Strokes stamp set from JustRite. I just fell in love with this stamp set.  I can see my self using this in my Art Journal. Of course I had to use some type of bling, so I used some sequins.

I know it is a busy time of the year but I hope to see you this up coming Wednesday. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

How to use metal dies and line them up with stamped images

Happy Saturday!!!

I wanted to share this video as I have struggled when lining up dies that are not cut out in the middle. The challenge is that you can't see the image you have stamped so at times it can come out off centre. Meaning every time I try to use them lol!!!

Taylored Expressions carries dies and matching stamps at SGD and have a great video explaining how. I love it!! I would also recommend keeping the paper cut out that she shows you how to create with your die to help save time in the future.

In today's Daily sale there is a Taylored Expressions stamp and die on sale!

Hope this helps you as much as it did me!

Happy Crafting,
Andrea

Watercoloured poppy card!

Happy Friday! A Poppy card today.....stepping outside the Christmas box, lol....my creative juices are not really flowing....when life gets busy that usually happens, but I did spend some time in my craft room and I have wanted to try this technique for a while, so here it is....
I started out with a piece of watercolour paper, 3 1/4 x 5, and stamped the poppy stamp from Penny Black with Versafine black, before I sprayed water on the paper I made sure the image was dry. With a watercolour brush  I painted the flower, using Tim Holtz markers, barn door, fired brick and forest moss.
When I was done colouring , I used my heat gun to make sure this was all dry. Then I took the stencil from Penny Black and I inked up the back with my Tim Holtz barn door and mustard seed inkpads and sprayed water on it, then I carefully placed it around the stamped image and patted it down, and slowly removed it again. With the heat gun I dried the ink again, then I added some more splatters of barn door. I put my marker on a plastic lid, spray water on in and with a paint brush I tap some splatters on.
Some black, shiny paper to mat and some twine to finish it off. I learned about this technique a while ago from the Penny Black blog, this is where Heather Telford showed it to us!
                                                 Happy Crafting, Anja

"January" Calendar Class

Good morning, everyone. Today, I wanted to share with you the first layout that I have created for 2015. I have been teaching a Calendar Class for several years and have watched the children of the ladies who have taken the class grow up. This is a great way to get at least one layout done each month to record your year. For those who take all the classes in the year, Sheila offers 50% off an album. The same applies if you just buy the kit for each month. For January's layout, I used the Bo Bunny "Altitude" collection as well as a Memory Box Snowflake and a Snowflake Collection from I.O. I also got out my Diamond Stickles to add some glitter.

Hope you have a great week!

Christmas with Penny Black!

Happy Friday! Sorry for the quality of this picture, this is the best I could do, the shiny, mirri paper is lovely to work it, has an awesome shine but  not very photogenetic, lol.  Anyhow, I love how this one turned out, and it's quick and easy!
I started with a white card base, and some red mirri paper, I cut out the biggest size of labels 34 from Spellbinders. Then I took a square nestabilitie and cut out the middle part, I also cut out a white square for behind the frame. On this square I stamped the Merry Christmas from the Orantely Merry Set and I used part of the Etched Branches and stamped that on top in memento red ink. I like to think outside the box, just using part of a stamp and get a different effect, like I did here with the Etched branches from Penny Black.
On the bottom I cut a plain strip of the red mirri board and scored 2 lines above it. Of course I had to add some glitter, this time I have used Viva silver glitterpen.
                                                         Till next time, Anja

"Sweetie Pie"

Happy December 1st!  I have been working on a few kits for the store and wanted to show you this kit using the papers from Studio Calico "Brighton Pier" collection. I loved the soft green and pink colours of this line and thought that they would be perfect for a feminine layout. To highlight the papers and flowers which I used from Prima, I used the Tim Holtz Spun Sugar and Evergreen Bough inks and markers. I also added a few wooden pieces and some pink ribbon and twine. Hope you like the layout!

Have a great week!

Colouring fun with CandiBean

Andrea here on this snowy Saturday to share what I have been up to on my crafting desk lately
I grabbed a CandiBean stamp last time I was in the store- this one is 'Spread a smile of Joy'
I love that sweet little girl!
I coloured her and her snowy friend up with my copics to match the Bo Bunny Altitude paper
I can't get over those rich colours for Winter!
I kept the card simple to get it ready to be handed out soon for the Holiday Season.

Hope you are doing well or almost done your holiday crafting!

Cheers, Andrea

Just because...

Happy Friday! It's good to be back in my craft room, get my fingers messy and create!
I started out with a piece of watercolour paper, 31/4 x 41/2 and I sprayed it with water, then I took my Tim Holtz broken china inkpad and smeared it across the top , then I did the same with dusty concord and mustard seed on the bottom, the musterd seed was very bright, oops, so I put dusty concord on top.
Then I added more water with a waterbrush, let it run a little and then put a piece of papertowel on top to take off the access water.I inked up the stamp with the 3 inks, sprayed some water on it and stamped the image from Penny Black,  a day in autumn, right after that I inked up the stamp with just dusty concord, sprayed some water on it and stamped again. I added some dusty concord in the corners with a sponge. After this step I took the top picture. With the heat tool I dried the whole piece before I stamped again with black Versafine and put black embossing powder on, the same with the sentiment from Just Rite, Graceful Sentiments. I got my spritzer tool out and put the black soot marker in from Tim Holtz and sprayed on some black dots.
Mounted the whole piece on a cream mat and onto a black card base.
Hope you like it! It was fun and easy to do! Till next time, Anja

Let it snow

Oh there is snow in Southern Ontario!
I took some time to make my Christmas cards last night. I used my

Tim Holtz Texture Fades - Brick & Woodgrain Embossing Folders, to create the brick look.

This has to be one of my favorite folders! I used odds and ends to create the star and banner.

Don't forget to check out the 12 hour special

It's Hockey Time!!

We are now well into Hockey Season and my son Benny is playing for the first time.  I don't know where he gets it from because we have never exposed him to it.  I never aspired to be a Hockey Mom. He suited up for the first time and he said "Mama, I am gonna be famous!"....with conviction!  I had to capture the moment.  I used the Simple Stories collection "Say Cheese", along with the Bella Blvd collection "Halloween Magic", both collections are great for boy layouts!!

Mixed Media Canvas

Happy Tuesday Everyone!!

I wasn't able to attend Cari Fennell's Prima Canvas workshop in September so I purchased a kit.  At the Fall Retreat in Grand Bend, Kim and I were finally able to play with the kit!  If you can recall, it turned out quite different than Cari's, but only due to the colour choices I made.  That is the great thing about mixed media - you end up with a unique piece every time!!

A Canvas such as this would make a great Christmas present!!!   Some of the supplies used:

Prima Glass Beads
Prima Bottle Cap Embellishments

"December" Calendar Class

Good morning, all! Today, I wanted to share with you a layout that I created for the "December" Calendar Class using some of the papers from the Simple Stories "Cozy Christmas" line. Rather than go with the more traditional Christmas colours, I decided to focus on gold and cream. I thought that if you printed your photos in Sepia, this would be very dramatic.

I used some Memory Box Ornament dies, the small Blooming Poinsettia die, and the Wink of Stella Clear Brush. I love these Crystals from Prima as well. We will also be stamping and embossing using the Lindy's Gold Embossing Powder.

This class will be on December 14 at 1:30 p.m. Have a great week!
